Basically, during a World Series by Renault race at Monaco in 2005 Maldonado ignored yellow flags and hit a track marshal causing, among other injuries, a broken back. He was banned from next four WSR races, and the people that run the Monaco GP decided to ban him for life. After his dad stepped in and payed all the bills the marshal had, he was reinstated.
